So I got the book Time for Andrew by Mary Downing Hahn from a used book store and reviewed it oh…about a month or so ago. I lent the book to a woman at work who has two sons who are both big readers.
She came back to me a few days later and was like, “The boys are so excited because that book is signed by the author. They want to sell it on Ebay.” To which I said “What??? It’s fucking SIGNED? I hadn’t even noticed!”
She brought it back to me today, and sure enough there is MDH’s signature on the title page! And it’s dated 10/28/05. I can’t be sure it’s real (I need to scour the internets to see if I can find an image of MDH’s signature), but if it is, what a find!
See, you can find some real treasures at your local used bookstore 🙂
Awesomeness! It’s always nice to have a signature of someone you admire. I have an Ann M. Martin signature on one of her new books from when I was at Book Expo. (Didn’t get to get Judy Blume’s sig, though, sigh!)
Haha, that’s awesome. Oh I have received the book today, thank you!
That is rad!! I love that book. Although I’m confused about why her sons would want to sell your book on eBay…
That’s awesome. What a happy surprise.A few years ago for Christmas, my sister gave me the new edition of Barry Williams’ Growing Up Brady, and there’s a label with a (computer-generated?) signature on the title page. She’d gotten it from Amazon but never noticed it and the listing didn’t say anything about it.
Devika, her sons didn’t realize this was a borrow book. They thought their mom brought a new book home for them. I’m glad they brought my attention to it, because I did have it listed on paperbackswap!
